Rail Arts District Tour Rolls On Saturday

AVONDALE ESTATES, GA -- Folks in Decatur, Avondale Estates and Scottdale will be taking to the rails to enjoy some art on Saturday.

The 9th annual Rail Arts District Studio Cruise is set for Saturday, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

During the free event, visitors will be able to take trolley rides along the CSX rail line that runs through the three cities, checking out art studios, art exhibits and art sales.

The anchor studios for this year's tour include Little Tree Art Studios, Mudfire Clayworks, Atlanta Hot Glass, Paper Trail Arts Center, Garage Door Studio and Wild Heaven Craft Beers.

Trolley service during the event is free and parking is available in public parking locations along the route.

Local restaurants and other businesses will be set up to provide food and drink during the cruise.

This year, Avondale Estates will be keeping the party going until late-night.

A RAD after-party is scheduled for 8-11 p.m. at Avondale Towne Cinema, at 106 North Avondale Rd.

The Avondale Arts Alliance will host the event, which will feature a performance by "Tribute -- A Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band."

Proceeds from the after-party will benefit local arts education.
