Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Murder
Hussan Chester is charged in the shooting death of Erica Cruz earlier this month.
DECATUR, GA -- A 34-year-old Atlanta man has been taken into custody in DeKalb County and charged with murder. On Tuesday, DeKalb Sheriff’s deputies took Hussan Karim Chester into custody today after he was detained by Gwinnett County police. Chester was attempting to
re-register as a sex offender with the Gwinnett County Sex Offender’s Unit.
According to the warrant issued in DeKalb County on February 24, 2019, Chester shot Erica Cruz in the head on February 22, 2019 at a Meadow Glen Village Lane residence, causing her death. No motive was given for the assault.
Chester was transported without incident to the DeKalb jail.
