Renfroe Middle School Construction -- Next Phase Starts In May

The second phase will include a new two-story building for a new cafeteria, science classes and administration offices.

DECATUR, GA -- The next phase of construction at Renfroe Middle School is set to begin shortly after May 27 -- the last day of school for City Schools of Decatur.

This next phase will include demolition of the school's chorus and engineering building, to be replaced by a two-story building housing a new cafeteria, kitchen, science classrooms and administration offices, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The school's current kitchen and cafeteria will be renovated into new engineering, chorus and music classrooms.

Work on the site will be ongoing into late May, with new construction starting in the summer, project manager Jeff Prine told the paper.

The construction should be complete in time for the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.

The first phase of construction at Renfroe, which includes a 14-classroom building, should be complete in the next few weeks.
