Reward Offered for Information in Nearby Dog Hanging Case

The Humane Society of the United States will give $5,000 to anyone who can lead law enforcement to the person who hanged a dog off a bridge.

The Humane Society of the United States has more than doubled the reward for information on the person responsible for hanging a dog off of a bridge near Decatur last week.

According to the organization, they will offer $5,000 for anyone who comes forward to identify the person or people responsible for leaving the pit bull mix hanging from a chain off a bridge in the 2500 block of Kelly Lake Road on May 21. A witness told police she recognized the dog from the neighborhood, but investigators have not found any identification tags.

Earlier, pit bull advocacy group Stubby’s Heroes offered a $4,000 reward for information leading to the culprit or culprits, bringing the total reward amount to $9,000.
