The local doughnut chain's first store inside the perimeter will open the first week of April in north Decatur.

DECATUR, GA — Sarah Donuts, an award-winning local doughnut chain, is bringing its first inside-the-perimeter shop to Decatur. The new location will be at 2136 North Decatur Rd., in North Decatur Plaza at the intersection of North Decatur and Clairmont roads.

The shop will be celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, April 7, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The chain currently has doughnut shops in Suwanee, Johns Creek, Norcross and Cumming.

Husband and wife team Sarah and Jongwon Park first brought over their successful donut business from Texas to Georgia in 2004. Sarah Donuts is known for its unique and imaginative flavors, including red velvet, blueberry, cinnamon twist and devil's food cake. They even have star, flower, and heart-shaped doughnuts.

Local honors for Sarah Donuts include a Creative Loafing "Donut Smackdown" win, a 2016 Atlanta Magazine "Best of Atlanta" nod and making Zagat's "10 Must Try Donut Shops Around Atlanta."

"The sour cream donuts at this modest suburban bakery are top-notch, crusty and slightly salty on the outside, warm and crumbly on the inside," wrote Zagat's Christopher Hassiotis. "The red-velvet cake donuts are winners, though the real stars are, well, the stars — donuts in a familiar five-pointed shape and decorated with seasonal frostings and sprinkles. All are made by hand early, early in the morning."
