Is School in Session in Decatur Today?

Potentially hazardous morning conditions have spurred the DeKalb County School District to make a decision on Tuesday classes.

DeKalb County’s students and teachers will have an extra day off due to the brutal winter conditions expected to persist in the area throughout Tuesday morning.

The school district announced the cancellation just before 10 o’clock Monday night, stating that the threat of icy roads prompted the decision. In addition, all of Tuesday’s after school activities have been cancelled.

The temperature in Decatur is expected to be around 27 degrees at bus pick-up time on Tuesday and is not expected to get above freezing until noon, according to the National Weather Service.
