The school received an overall “A” grade, with highest marks for:

The website says of Decatur High School: “According to state standards, 82% of students at this school are considered proficient in math and/or reading. There have been 202 reviews written and they have been mostly positive.”

Here’s how one student summed up the school this week: “The teachers really care. We do have lots of wannabe hipsters but it’s not too bad.”
And in November a parent wrote that bullying isn’t tolerated by kids or staff.
“The school feels very secure. Last year there were some muggings that occurred as kids walked home from football games - parents were alerted immediately and the school stepped up security. … It is easy to keep tabs on things and I feel the district has historically been very transparent.”
