🌱 Senior Residence Voucher Program Now Open + DeKalb Parent Meeting

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Decatur-Avondale Estates.

Hello all. I'm here with your Wednesday edition of the Decatur-Avondale Estates Daily, full of everything you need to know about what's happening locally. Let's do it.


First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and very hot. High: 99 Low: 75.


Here are the top three stories today in and around Decatur-Avondale Estates:

  1. The Decatur Housing Authority announced that the project-based voucher program waiting list opened today, June 21 for eight days. The waiting list applies to the following senior residences: Calvin Court, Philips Tower and Decatur Christian Towers. The online application is available 24 hours a day during this eight-day window.   2. The DeKalb County School District will hold two meetings for parents and the community on June 23 at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. via Zoom, to identify needs in the district and seek input from residents. The meetings are part of a comprehensive needs assessment process with guidelines provided by the Georgia Department of Education's Office of School Improvement. Specific topics that will be addressed are student success, equity and access, stakeholder engagement and communication, staff effectiveness, and culture and climate. (Decaturish.com )
  3. Atlanta Police Department officials are searching for a man they say robbed an individual at gunpoint at the Exxon gas station on Joseph E Boone Blvd NW on Saturday, May 21, 2022, around 7:50 p.m. The Atlanta Police Department released a video yesterday showing the alleged robber approaching a vehicle and hanging around the gas station. The identity of the victim has not been released. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
