Shallowford Presby. Hosts Pipe Organ Concert for Public
Guest Organist, Guest Conductor, Brass Ensemble and 5 Church Choirs to Perform
The community is invited to the inaugural concert of the newly-built Casavant pipe organ recently installed at Shallowford Presby. Church on Sunday afternoon, October 30, at 4:oo p.m.
The concert will showcase the musical beauty and versatility of the instrument that boasts more than 2,000 pipes. The concert will include organ solos, music for organ and brass instruments, organ accompaniment for hymns sung by the audience and organ accompaniment for anthems sung by each of the five church choirs.
Two of Atlanta’s most outstanding musicians are featured on the program. Scott Hamilton Atchison, Director of Music and Organist at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and an accomplished organist, will solo on the instrument. William Fred Scott, well-known in Atlanta as a conductor having served the Atlanta Symphony, the Atlanta Opera and the Westminster Schools, will conduct the chancel Choir in the "Toccata" by Widor.
