A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 85 Low: 70.
Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates and surrounding communities today:
- DeKalb County Police are investigating an incident on Saturday evening where a woman was shot inside her apartment. The 36-year-old woman, who has yet to be identified, was rushed to the hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. She was shot inside her apartment from the outside by an unknown person or group of people. (WSB-TV 2)
- Keri Hilson, a musician from Decatur, was awarded the Music and Songwriter Icon Award for her contributions to music at the 2022 Black Music Honors. During her tribute, two of her most popular songs were performed. The tribute left some surprised and questioning her contributions to music, but fans were quick to remind people of Hilson's many accomplishments and arguing that she deserved such a tribute. - Mississippi State basketball team, the Bulldogs, got their first commitment of the class of 2023 when 7-foot-tall center Gai Chol announced his pledge to play. Gai Chol, who came out of Greenforest Academy in Decatur, was named a Top 7 of Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Wofford. He first received an MSU scholarship offer from the previous coaching staff in 2021. (Saturday Down South)
