Snow, Freezing Temperatures Forecast For Decatur

DECATUR, GA -- A mixture of snow and rain is forecast for much of north Georgia -- including Decatur and DeKalb County -- on Monday, with rain turning into all snow on Monday night.

No accumulation is expected for most of metro Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service, and no local school closings have been announced. There is the potential for black ice overnight Monday and Tuesday in some areas.

In Decatur, the weather service was calling for a 30% chance of showers Monday, mostly after 2 p.m., with a high around 50 degrees and winds gusting up to 25 mph.

Monday night was predicted to see a freezing low of 28 degrees, with chances of rain shifting to a chance of rain and snow after 10 p.m. and scattered snow showers after 1 a.m.

Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be even colder.

The high Tuesday is expected to barely get above freezing, hitting 35 degrees with a 20% chance of more snow showers before 8 a.m. The low Tuesday night could dip all the way down to 22 degrees.

The skies should clear up by Wednesday, when the high in Decatur is expected to be 36 degrees and the low Wednesday night a frigid 19 degrees.
