A group of residents in south Decatur are asking for traffic calming measures including lower speed limits and more crosswalks.
The group of about 270 residents have signed a petition, reports the AJC, a petition that has also been signed by Mayor Jim Baskett and sent to the state DOT.
The area over which the residents are concerned is South Candler Street from Pharr Road to College Avenue.

South Candler’s current speed limit is 35 mph. Residents say South Candler is full of bikers and pedestrians and is crossed by children going to three city schools.
