Street Closings Start Friday for Decatur Book Festival

To prepare for this weekend's AJC Decatur Book Festival, crews will close some streets starting early Friday morning.

In order to prepare for the country’s largest independent book festival this weekend, several downtownΒ Decatur streets will be closed from Friday morning through Sunday night.

The ninth annual AJC Decatur Book Festival will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 31, from noon until 6 p.m. All events associated with this festival are FREE to the public.

Organizers encourage patrons to walk, bike, or ride Marta to the Square. If you drive, please consider parking at the DeKalb County parking deck, which is free on nights and weekends. Other parking deck information can be found here

*N. McDonough Street will be closed at 3 a.m. on Friday morning, Aug. 29, until Sunday, Aug. 30, at midnight.
*East Court Square will be closed on Friday, Aug. 29, from 3 a.m. until Sunday, Aug. 31, at midnight.
*Ponce de Leon will be closed from Church Street to Commerce on Friday, Aug. 30, from 3 p.m. until Sunday, Aug. 31, at midnight.
*Clairemont Avenue will be closed from Commerce Drive to Ponce de Leon on Friday, Aug. 30, from 3 p.m. until Sunday, Aug. 31, at midnight.
