Summer Film Intensive Begins June 6th! Enroll Now!

The Artizen Company's highly anticipated summer camp returns! Summer Film Intensive 2016, for the young filmmaker. Enroll Now!

The Artizen Company’s Summer Film Intensive: a hands-on filmmaking program right here in the Metro Atlanta area, that will give participants the opportunity to develop and produce an original, festival-worthy, short film with industry professionals.

The 2, four-week intensives led by The Artizen Company’s Co-founders and Artistic Directors, Aimee McCoy and Tae Eady. Along with daily instruction from Ms. McCoy and Ms. Eady, your teens will attend workshops lead by other industry professional, that will kickstart their own journey into independent filmmaking. The program will culminate in a dailies screening for family and friends, followed by a larger premier screening of the finished film in the fall.

The program is open to highly motivated youths age 12-18 (special consideration needed for younger participants) interested in a focused and collaborative filmmaking experience – in front of the camera and/or behind the camera. Through concentrated teamwork and leadership opportunities, participants will not only have professional work to show for their efforts, but also increase their knowledge and skills in such areas as:

  • Acting on Camera
  • The Director’s Job
  • Story Architecture
  • Cinematography & Camera Operation
  • Costumes & Make-up
  • Art Direction

  • Production Assistance

  • Marketing and Film Festival Entry process

Experience is helpful but not required. However, each candidate must complete our review process, before the course begins, to ascertain their level of participation, motivation, and ability to work within a team. Space is limited due to the nature of the program, so start the process early. An interview is required for enrollment.

Session 1: Performance, Pre-production, and Principle Photography

Dates: June 6 – July 1, 2015

This year we also have a special opportunity during this session for a select few to participate, all expenses paid, in a summer Teen Media Literacy field-trip to attend a youth centered Arts and Justice conference at the Highlander Research and Educational Center in New Market, Tennessee. Session 2: Post-Production and Marketing

July 5 – July 29, 2015

Times: Monday – Friday, 10am – 3pm

Ages: 12-18 (special consideration is needed for participants under 12.)

Fee: $1400 (for full session), or $350 per week (two week minimum):

Former students have gone on to do work in professional productions, while others have been accepted into art and performing art school programs.
