Ted Turner Drive Christened in Atlanta

The City of Atlanta honored one of its favorite sons by renaming a portion of the street outside his company’s headquarters in his honor on Tuesday.

The segment of Spring Street that runs along Ted Turner’s CNN Center will now be known as Ted Turner Drive, one of the highest honors a city can bestow on an individual. Turner, a lifelong Atlanta resident, seemed moved at the ceremony outside the headquarters of his media empire.

Mayor Kasim Reed said he wished he could do more to honor Turner, but the renaming of the street was the highest gift he could bestow as mayor.
