Thomas Eye Group Opens New Hillandale Office to Meet Growing Patient Demand

New Hillandale Office will integrate latest ocular technologies and highly trained physicians in comfortable, convenient environment



DECATUR – Thomas Eye Group, a leading metro Atlanta eye care provider, has announced that it will merge its Atlanta Medical Center and Decatur offices into a new, larger facility adjacent to Dekalb Medical Hillandale on September 21. The new Hillandale office, located at 6000 Hillandale Drive, will offer comprehensive eye care services to patients ranging in age from infants to seniors.


“The Hillandale office provides more space and the latest technologies to better serve the growing patient demand in South Dekalb County,” said Rod Roeser, CEO for Thomas Eye Group. “Our goal is to continually deliver superior quality patient experiences at every Thomas Eye Group location, and we look forward to serving the Hillandale community.”

Thomas Eye Group is a full service eye care provider with seven locations in and around the greater Atlanta area providing routine eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, LASIK, cataract surgery, as well as other medical, surgical and cosmetic services. Many Thomas Eye Group physicians have undergone additional, highly specialized sub-specialty training to offer services including oculoplastics, pediatrics, cornea, retina, and glaucoma.

The Hillandale office will be staffed by seasoned Thomas Eye Group professionals and four doctors including:

Augustus T. Stephens, M.D., a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon who has been in private practice for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience with small-incision, suture-free cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and LASIK.

Dana J. Wallace, M.D., a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma management including trabeculectomy, express shunts, glaucoma tube shunts, and glaucoma lasers among many others. She also performs cataract surgery.

Vidya P. Phoenix, M.D., a board certified, fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist. She specializes in comprehensive medical and surgical pediatric eye care. Her special interests include early diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia and strabismus.

Jeff Mellom, O.D., a primary care optometrist focused on a wide variety of vision services including comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens fitting.
