Train Crash Kills Man Trying To Help Woman In DeKalb

The man was attempting to help a female passenger escape a car before a train crash killed him, police say.

SCOTTDALE, GA — A train crash killed a man who was trying to help a woman get out of a car that stopped on the tracks early Tuesday morning in Scottdale, DeKalb County Police said.

The deadly crash happened around 2 a.m. at East Ponce de Leon and North Clarendon avenues, police said. They did not say why the car was stopped on the tracks.

The man, who had been driving the car, was attempting to help a female passenger escape the car before the train arrived, police said. He died at the scene, and the woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
