🌱 Transgender Woman Sues Decatur Chick-Fil-A + Cooling Centers Open

Here are the top stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:
- A transgender woman is suing her former employer, a Decatur Chick-fil-A, claiming that she was subjected to homophobic comments and sexual harassment that ultimately ended in her termination. Aaron White alleges that a fellow employee made lude and inappropriate comments to her on her first day of training. The lawsuit claims comments toward White became homophobic when she told colleagues she was transgender. White is also suing franchise owner Joe Eggert for false termination and claims that she was fired due to her sexual orientation. (Nation's Restaurant News)
- DeKalb County made most recreation centers and libraries throughout the county available as cooling centers yesterday due to a heat advisory. The National Weather Service's Peachtree City Forecast Office issued a heat advisory, noting that advisories are issued when it "feels like" temperatures are expected to reach or be greater than 103 degrees, or when the actual air temperature is expected to be at 105 degrees or greater. The libraries and recreation centers will be available as cooling centers during their normal business hours. (Decaturish.com )
- Within the last 30 days, Decatur Police have responded to four different incidents of public indecency, three of which resulted in an arrest. The most recent incident occurred on July 6 when two women stated that they witnessed a man masturbating in his car parked on Inman Drive. On Saturday, June 25, a 21-year old man stood on a picnic table at Glenlake Park, removed his pants and exposed his privates to patrons at the pool. (Decaturish.com )
