Tree Falls on House, Killing DeKalb Teacher

Neighbors told a news crew that the woman killed early Monday had spent 15 years with the school system.

A DeKalb County teacher was killed Monday morning when a tree fell on her home in northwest Atlanta.

According to WSB-TV, the tree fell through the home of Patricia Pusha, 60 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Atlanta Assistant Fire Chief Chris Wessels told WSB-TV that the home was no longer structurally sound, forcing crews to shore up the structure as they worked their way in to find survivors.

Pusha was a teacher at McNair Middle School and was a 15-year veteran of DeKalb County schools, WSB-TV said.

Pusha’s brother was able to escape the home, the station said.
