Two Metro Atlanta Church Choirs Will Join Voices For Two Free Afternoons of Inspirational Music
The choirs of Covenant Presbyterian and North Decatur Presbyterian Church will present Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living Oct. 30 & Nov. 6

The choirs of Covenant Presbyterian Church and North Decatur Presbyterian Church will join voices to present Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at North Decatur Presbyterian (611 Medlock Rd., Decatur, Ga. 30033) and on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian (2461 Peachtree Rd., NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30305). Clint Miller, director of music and organist at North Decatur Presbyterian, will play the organ for the performances and Jeffrey McIntyre, director of music and organist for Covenant Presbyterian, will conduct. The concerts are free and open to the public. An offering will be taken at each concert, with proceeds to benefit Decatur Cooperative Ministry and Buckhead Christian Ministries. www.ndpc.org, www.covpresatlanta.org
“Our two choirs are well matched in terms of numbers and skill,” said McIntyre. “Combined, we will have about 50 voices singing this beautiful piece of music. Forrest, a U.S. composer and pianist, wrote Requiem for the Living in 2013 as a 40-minute, five-movement work. Traditionally, a requiem is a prayer for rest and peace for the deceased. This requiem, however, is as much a prayer for the living as it is for the dead, combining both liturgical and non-liturgical texts, and ending with a prayer for light, peace and rest.”
