Decatur area residents who want to learn more about combating the problem of underage drinking in their communities can attend a town hall meeting later this week featuring speakers from relevant fields.

According to the Decatur Prevention Initiative (DPI), speakers the April 2 event at the Ebster Recreation Center include: Terrie Moore, Decatur Prevention Initiative; Wendy Jefferson, Emory University School of Medicine; Sgt. Jennifer Ross, Decatur Police Department; and Diane Hill, Juvenile Court of DeKalb County. The meeting will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The theme of the meeting is “Bringing Awareness to Underage Drinking,” and will remind parents and guardians to abstain from providing alcohol for parties hosted by their children through the “Parents Who Host Lose the Most: Don’t Be a Party to Underage Drinking” campaign, DPI says.
Further town halls on this issue will be held on April 23 and in August, according to DPI.
