Underage Drinking Town Hall Next Week
42 percent of Decatur high school seniors reported having a drink within the last 30 days, with 23 percent reporting binge drinking.

“Half of Decatur middle and high school students were recently surveyed about their alcohol use. 22% of 10th graders and 42% of 12th graders reported having consumed alcohol in the past 30 days. 15% of 10th graders and 23% of 12th graders reported binge drinking in the past 30 days. We have an issue in our community that we need to talk about.”
Please join us for a Decatur Prevention Initiative (DPI) Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at The Solarium in Oakhurst located in 321 West Hill Street, Decatur GA 30030.Decatur, GA 30030. The theme of the meeting will be “Bringing Awareness to Underage Drinking”. The Decatur Prevention Initiative (DPI) is a community-based organization with over twenty years of providing substance abuse prevention services for Decatur families and youth. Supported through citizen volunteers and inter-agency collaboration, DPI is primarily funded with state and federal community prevention grants. You will hear from the following speakers: Terrie Moore, Decatur Prevention Initiative; Wendy Jefferson, Emory University School of Medicine; Lt. Jennifer Ross, Decatur Police Department; Diane Hill, Juvenile Court of DeKalb County.
