A Weekend With the Prayer Book

Derek Olsen, biblical scholar and author of the just-released Reading Matthew with Monks: Liturgical Interpretation in Anglo-Saxon England, comes to Holy Trinity to teach on the spirituality of the prayer book. Join Derek on:

Dr. Derek Olsen earned a Ph.D. in New Testament from Emory University in 2011. His research focuses on the intersection between Scripture and Liturgy. Currently, he serves as the Secretary for the Episcopal Church’s Standing Commission for Liturgy & Music, and is co-chair of the Calendar Committee that has drafted a replacement for the embattled Holy Women, Holy Men. Husband of the Rev. Meredith Kefauver Olsen, a fellow Candler grad and an Episcopal priest, they live in Baltimore with their two daughters. Dr. Olsen is the liturgical editor of the newly revised St. Augustine’s Prayer Book, the programmer of the St. Bede’s Breviary, and is the author of Reading Matthew with Monks: Liturgical Interpretation in Anglo-Saxon England published by Liturgical Press.
