What's Happening in Decatur This Weekend?

Relive the hysteria of a 1950s teen idol in “Bye, Bye Birdie,” or join your Decatur neighbors on the square for a free concert.

Music is the name of the game in town this weekend.

This week the Decatur Business Association welcomes The Rainmen to town. The band specializes in 1960s and early ‘70s danceable rock ’n’ roll tunes. As drummer and music connoisseur David Michaelson says, “there are still a lot of people around who want to hear ‘real rock ’n’ roll’.” On the Decatur square at 7 p.m. Saturday.

‘Bye Bye Birdie’ at St. Thomas More

Watch as small town Sweet Apple, Ohio goes into an uproar when Elvis-like icon Conrad Birdie has a contest to kiss one girl in America before shipping off in the Army. Full of fun 50’s rock and roll, several dozen hysterical teen girls, poodle skirts and saddle oxfords, you’ll recognize songs, including “Put On a Happy Face,” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do.”

Second and third weekends in September, September 12-14, and 19-21, 2014
Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
