What's Open, Closed Thanksgiving Week In DeKalb County

State, county and city government offices, the post office, schools and others will be taking a break during the holiday week.

DECATUR, GA - Most government offices and lots of businesses will be closing this week in DeKalb County as we observe Thanksgiving.

Here's a rundown of what's open and what's closed in DeKalb for Thanksgiving 2017:

  • All DeKalb County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • There will be no DeKalb County trash collection on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday will be serviced on Friday.
  • The DeKalb County public schools and the Decatur City Schools are closed this week for the Thanksgiving break.
  • All branches of the DeKalb County Public Library except Doraville will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. The Doraville branch will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday and Friday.
  • Georgia state offices, including driver's services, will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed Thursday.
  • City offices, including Decatur, Doraville, Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Stone Mountain and Tucker, will be closed Thursday and Friday.
