DeKalb Woman On Brink Of Homelessness After COVID Infection: Report

A DeKalb County woman said that after being hospitalized for a month due to COVID and still recovering, she's unable to work.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A DeKalb County woman says she’ll be homeless in just days because she can’t keep up with rent after a COVID-19 diagnosis, reported WAGA-TV.

Zenette Steele told the news station that she was hospitalized for a month and still isn’t well enough to return to work. Her landlord told her that if she wanted to sign for another year, her rent would increase to $1,800, reported WAGA-TV.

DeKalb County’s rental assistance program helped her from September through February, but Steele told the news station that now she’s out of time and options.
