Woman Critically Injured in Decatur-Area Shooting

Police suspect the shooting was domestic violence, but no arrests have yet been made.

DECATUR, GA -- A DeKalb County woman was fighting for her life Friday after an early morning shooting at a home near Decatur.

The 34-year-old woman, whom police have not named, was shot at a home on the 4300 block of Denise Drive -- off of Hwy. 278 southeast of downtown Decatur.

The shooting happened at around 3 a.m., DeKalb County Police said.

Police on Friday said they suspect the shooting was a domestic incident.

"This wasn’t a random act and not a stranger to stranger incident," police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.

No arrests had been made in the case as of early Friday afternoon.

The woman was in critical condition at an area hospital, Campbell said.
