Woman Killed On Commerce Drive In Decatur
She was hit Tuesday afternoon by a vehicle leaving the Kroger parking lot, according to Decatur Police.

DECATUR, GA — A woman was killed on Commerce Drive in Decatur on Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a car.
At about 3:22 p.m., Decatur Police were called to the intersection of Commerce and North Candler Street, where two people had been walking across the street on a crosswalk. A vehicle leaving the parking lot of the Kroger grocery store there turned left and hit one of them, according to police.
The woman who was driving said she did not see the two people in the crosswalk, said police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Ross. The woman who was walking had cuts on her upper torso, face and one of her arms and was taken to a hospital, Ross said.

Once she was there, it was discovered that the woman had suffered internal injuries that led to "a major medical event," according to Ross. She later died.
Police were not publicly identifying the victim or the driver Wednesday morning. The driver has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and additional charges are pending, Ross said.
