Woman Shot, Killed at MARTA Bus Stop
The 19-year-old victim from Lithonia worked at a child-care center and planned to join the Navy.
A recent Lithonia High School graduate who worked at a child-care center and planned to join the Navy was shot and killed at a MARTA bus stop in DeKalb County.
The shooting happened about 10 a.m. Sunday at 5900 Fairington Road when an unknown suspect appeared to struggle with the victim, Marcaysia Dawkins, 19, over her purse. She was found by police critically injured on the bench at the bus stop, reports WSB TV.
Dawkins was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she died shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office, reports Examiner.com.

Authorities are investigating whether the suspect had just gotten off a MARTA bus before the fatal confrontation, the website reports.
