Wylde Center's Fall Plant Sale Kicks Off at Oakhurst Garden Sept. 2 and Continues Through Oct. 14

Plants for sale will include numerous varieties of lettuce, Asian greens, arugula, kale, Swiss chard and other cool season edible plants.

Wylde Center, one of metro Atlanta’s premier environmental organizations, has a number of special events and activities planned for this fall, including the annual Fall Plant Sale, Sept. 2 – Oct. 14 at Oakhurst Garden.

The Fall Plant Sale is an eagerly-anticipated event designed for gardeners seeking unique varieties of vegetables, herbs, and perennials. Located at Oakhurst Garden, 435 Oakview Rd. in Decatur, plants for sale will include numerous varieties of lettuce, Asian greens, arugula, kale, Swiss chard and other cool season edible plants. All of the vegetables have been propagated by Wylde Center’s horticulture staff, while many of the other plants offered for sale will be provided by local growers and partner organizations. Proceeds from the ongoing sale benefit the numerous educational offerings at Wylde Center and help support the Atlanta non-profit organization’s five public greenspaces.

“Our plant sale coordinator and our volunteers have spent hundreds of hours sowing seeds in the greenhouse and potting up plants for the sale,” said Stephanie Van Parys, executive director of Wylde Center. “We only offer plants that we know will grow well in the fall, and each plant is well-labeled. Because Wylde Center’s mission is to inspire communities of environmental stewards, we encourage all gardeners to stop by the ongoing sale.”
