Into the Wylde: A Tour of Gardens Will Feature Private Gardens and Public Greenspaces May 6-7

Tour some of Decatur and Atlanta's most beautiful private gardens and greenspaces with proceeds benefitting The Wylde Center.

The Wylde Center will present some of the most beautiful and intriguing private and public gardens and greenspaces in Decatur and Atlanta Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7. Into the Wylde: A Tour of Gardens, will be held rain or shine from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 and noon – 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Proceeds will benefit the Wylde Center, one of metro Atlanta’s premier environmental organizations, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Tickets are $15 for Wylde Center members, $20 for non-members in advance and $25 the day of the tour, and may be purchased at http://wyldecenter.org/into-the-wylde-a-tour-of-gardens/ or at the Oakhurst Garden, 435 Oakview Road in Decatur. Children under age 12 will be admitted for free.

“We are excited to open up some very lovely public and private gardens to the public,” said Aditi Bhardwaj, chairman of the tour. “The tour is self-guided, so attendees can spend as much time as they wish at each stop and plan their own route, and volunteers will be stationed at the gardens to answer questions. In addition to the private gardens, we encourage everyone to include a stop at Woodlands Garden, Scott Park Garden, the five Wylde Center greenspaces and other public gardens on the tour.”

For two decades, the Wylde Center has been growing, educating and greening. From the seed of an idea in 1997, the Wylde Center has blossomed into an environmental organization that oversees five distinctive greenspaces, conducts a year-round educational program for all ages, hosts social events and delivers farm to school programming in Decatur and Atlanta schools. Staff and volunteers engage children, families and individuals in activities designed to develop creative skills in sustainable urban living, organic gardening, health and nutrition. Despite its robust growth, the Wylde Center has stayed true to its original mission of cultivating vibrant greenspaces for everyone to enjoy, and inspiring communities of environmental stewards. The Wylde Center is supported by memberships, donations, volunteers and grants. It’s never been a better time to get involved with this homegrown environmental resource!
