YMCA and Express Scripts® Partner to Provide Free Wellness Screenings

Focusing on the direct association between inadequate health care access and other health disparities and the rising incidence of chronic disease, the East Lake YMCA and a team of healthcare professionals led by Express Scripts®, an EvernorthSM company that manages pharmacy benefits, will come together Saturday, June 4, at 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, adjacent to East Lake YMCA, to provide Atlanta-area families with no-cost access to on-site biometric screenings to measure blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI). These are the key numbers that underlie a majority of health costs, a significant health concern identified by Georgia health consumers in a recent IPSOS study sponsored by Express Scripts.

“This is an important opportunity to educate and engage our neighbors 18-years of age and older to know their numbers and stay physically active to promote health throughout their lifespan,” explained Joseph Ambler, Executive Director of the East Lake Family YMCA. “By introducing Wellness Checks to adults along with youth development programs offered by the Y, Express Scripts and the YMCA are creating a new and powerful approach to combating chronic disease and meeting the critical health care needs of local families in our community.”
