Youth Writing Program Needs Journalists, Web Designers In Atlanta

DECATUR, GA — Students will share their original stories at the Decatur Book Festival this fall, but first, they need writing mentors. KIPP Strive Academy has put a call out for professional or grad student writers, journalists, illustrators, web designers and historians to mentor middle school students in their Scribes Program.

As part of the program, mentors will work either one-on-one with students or in small groups. They’ll guide them through the writing process as they create their own original stories.

At the end of the program, students will publish their stories in an anthology that they’ll share and sign at the Decatur Book Festival this fall.

The mentoring program runs weekly from Jan. 30 - April 23, with a week off for spring break. Email jimauch@gmail.com to sign up.
