DCSO Mourns The Passing Of Retired Bailiff, Police Captain

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Two retired members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office have recently died, authorities announced Thursday.

On social media, authorities revealed the passing of retired Capt. Robert W. McClendon and retired bailiff Euriel Campbell. Official cause of deaths were not released.

- Affectionately called "Captain Bob," authorities say McClendon spent 18 years with the sheriff's office before retiring in 2006.

"Throughout his career, he served with dedication, integrity and a strong work ethic, leaving a lasting impact on the agency and those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Sheriff Tim Pounds and the entire DCSO family extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to Captain Bob's family, friends, former coworkers and all who knew and loved him. ... Rest well, Captain Bob. Your service and dedication to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will always be remembered," authorities said.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

- Campbell, who was with the sheriff's office for 25 years, retired in 2020, authorities said.

"Throughout his career, he was known for his dedication, hard work and commitment to serving our agency and community. His years of service left a lasting mark on the DCSO family, and his legacy will not be forgotten. Sheriff Tim Pounds and the entire Douglas County Sheriff's Office extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and loved ones. ... Rest well, Bailiff Campbell. Thank you for 25 years of dedicated service," authorities said.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, 9190 Campbellton Road in Douglasville, authorities said.

A viewing will be held beforehand, and a repast will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church, authorities said.
