DULUTH, GA — A man with a head injury was found dead Sunday night in the parking lot of the Duluth Police Department headquarters, authorities said Monday.
Officers found the man near his vehicle around 10 p.m. in the department's side parking lot in the 3200 block of Buford Highway, police said. The call for service was deemed a person in crisis, they said.
The man suffered a fatal head injury, police said, but authorities did not release an official cause of death.
Concerned for his wellbeing, police said his friends called 911 after they were unable to reach him. Officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department were in the area offering assistance with the case when the man was found, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not identified.
Police said they do not suspect foul play in his death, which they said "appears to be an isolated act of self-harm."
Detectives and the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office are reviewing the case.
