Assistance League of Atlanta(R) Announces Third Annual Children's Book Drive
To put books into the hands of children in need take them to the Dunwoody locations listed below.

Assistance League of Atlanta, an all-volunteer, charitable organization that helps improve the lives of children and adults in need, is once again participating with Assistance League chapters across the country to hold a children’s book drive in support of volunteerism on Make a Difference Day, October 25, 2014. This annual day of volunteering is sponsored by USA Weekend and is a natural fit for Assistance League, which is a 100% volunteer organization.
In 2013, Assistance League collected over 103,000 books for distribution nationwide to low-income schools, homeless shelters, and hundreds of other nonprofit agencies all dedicated to improving childhood literacy. In Atlanta, Assistance League collected and donated 3.650 books for local use.
From October 1 to October 25, Assistance League of Atlanta hopes to collect 5,000 new and unmarked, like-new books for children ages 1-12 for distribution to charities and low-income schools in our community. “We need the public’s help to do this,” said Elaine McClean, president of Assistance League of Atlanta. “We are collecting books at several Dunwoody locations including Alice Cleaners, Picayune Toy Store, Crema Café, Bernadette’s Hair Salon, and Travelfaire of Dunwoody. You may also drop books off at our Attic Treasures Thrift Shop located at 3534 Broad Street in Chamblee.”

The public can also help by asking friends, families and book clubs to collect books and donate them to the book drive and by placing collection receptacles in places of business, schools and churches to collect books.
