Atlanta Congressman Running for Majority Leader

U.S. Rep. Tom Price is seeking one of Capitol Hill's top leadership positions.

U.S. Rep. Tom Price, who sixth congressional district includes parts of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Tucker and Roswell, told his GOP colleagues that he is running for House Majority Leader.

According to Roll Call, Price sent an email to House Republicans over the weekend, informing them of his decision.

Price’s candidacy comes in the wake of last Friday’s stunning news that House Speaker John Boehner is resigning at the end of October.

According to The Hill, Price got a boost Monday morning when news came out that U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling from Texas is backing Price.

The political blog Peach Pundit says Price looks to be competing with U.S. Reps. Cathy McMorris Rogers from Washington; Louisiana’s Steve Scalise and possibly Jim Jordan from Ohio for the position.
