'Beulah Creek' Opens Theatre Series at Dunwoody Nature Center
Performances are planned for Sept. 12-14 and 19-21.

“Beulah Creek” opens Theatre in the Park performances at the Dunwoody Nature Center, with the first show starting at 8 p.m. Friday.
The story takes place during the summer of 1936 amidst a Baptist camp meeting in South Georgia. When the pastor’s wife, Ruth, meets Iris, the WPA photographer documenting the revival, an unexpected relationship develops and challenges the societal norms of the time. A chorus of women sing Southern hymns and speak biblical text to give Ruth a means of expressing her feelings. When the revival participants grow suspicious of the relationship, Ruth must choose between Iris and the community in which she was raised.
Written by Atlanta playwright Neeley Gossett (2013 finalist, Alliance Theatre Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition) specifically for the Dunwoody Nature Center, this outdoor theatre performance will immerse audiences in its story.
“Beulah Creek” will be performed on the main stage in the meadow of Dunwoody Park from Sept. 12-14 and again Sept. 19-21. All show times are 8 p.m.
