DeKalb Judge's Son Indicted in Road-Rage Assault

Byron Scott was charged with aggravated assault, but his attorney says he is being targeted because his father is a judge.

A DeKalb County court employee whose father is a judge was indicted on a felony charge this week for an alleged 2013 case of road rage, but his attorney says the man was targeted because of his family connection.

According to a police report, a woman claimed that Byron Scott pointed a gun at her and her daughter in February 2013 after a fender bender on Redan Road. The woman tells police that Scott yelled expletives and pushed them after the accident, reports WSB TV.

At the time Scott was charged with misdemeanors, but a grand jury indicted him on felony aggravated assault charges Nov. 18.

“He didn’t do anything to this woman. He didn’t threaten her. He didn’t point a gun at her, but the officers chose to believe her when they arrived,” Keith Adams, Scott’s attorney, told WSB.

DeKalb County Judge Mark Anthony Scott is Byron Scott’s father. Judge Scott made headlines last summer when he released Pamela L. Ballin after she was convicted of murder without bond, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
