DeKalb Says: Get Official Trash, Recycling Bin Now

The sanitation department will only pick up items in those containers.

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will no longer pick up trash or recyclables in third-party or customer-provided garbage or recycling containers.

Only county-issued garbage roll carts and recycling containers will be serviced, according to the Brookhaven Post, a policy which takes effect Monday, October 19.

In a press release, the county said, “This new procedure assists in reducing employee injuries, and minimizes liability and maintenance concerns with handling and processing third-party containers. Residents not in compliance after Oct. 19 will be issued a notice advising of the use of an unapproved container.”
