DeKalb Sheriff Stepping Down for U.S. Congressional Bid

Sheriff Thomas Brown plans to run against four-term U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson.

DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown, who announced last fall that he is planning a congressional run, will step down from his post early next month.

Brown, who has served since 2001, plans to run against four-term U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Lithonia).

Brown has opened a campaign headquarters in Tucker.

Qualifying for state and federal races will be held in the county between March 3 and 7.
