Do-Over Vote Will Be Held For Peachtree Charter Renewal
A complaint about ballot-box tampering was made during the first vote.

A second, do-over vote for the renewal of a local charter school will be held next month after complaints of ballot-box tampering.
The vote, scheduled for Feb. 5, came about after a parent made the complaint on Jan. 8, according to The Crier. The parent said he found the ballot box on a cart with the ballots removed and stacked on top of it.
More than 350 people voted in a decision that overwhelmingly approved the renewal of the school’s charter.

Here is a statement from Principal Brian Heptinstall and Charter Committee Chair Allegra Johnson:
“In the spirit of transparency and community cohesiveness, the charter committee of the Parent Teacher Charter Council has nullified the vote on Jan. 8. This vote was nullified so that the committee can ensure the will of our community can be expressed unquestionably in a subsequent vote.”
