Dunwoody golfers raise funds for Winship prostate cancer research
The golfers raised $380,000 during the annual John H. Kauffman golf tournament held in May.

The Dunwoody Country Club's Champions Golf Association has raised a record amount of money to support prostate cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. The golfers raised $380,000 during the annual John H. Kauffman golf tournament held in May as well as several other events including a wine dinner and auction.
Support from the group provides funding for pilot grants which allow Winship's prostate cancer researchers to explore unique and innovative ideas that might not otherwise be funded.
"For 23 years, the Champions have thrown their support behind finding cures for prostate cancer," says Butch Price, Chair of the 2019 fundraiser. "We've contributed more than $1.7 million in the last decade to Winship thanks to the dedication and generous support from the members and guests of Dunwoody Country Club."

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in men in the United States. An estimated 5,400 men will be diagnosed in Georgia this year alone.
"Thanks to the Champions Golf Association members, we are making progress in working toward new ways to diagnose, treat, and cure prostate cancer," says Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD, Winship's executive director. "We are grateful for the steadfast and continued support of the Senior Men of Dunwoody."
