Dunwoody Police Remind Drivers to Lock Doors; Some Disagree

Do you lock your vehicle doors to deter thieves? Or leave them unlocked in hopes that your windows won't be broken out?

Dunwoody residents are debating whether it’s better to lock your vehicle to deter thieves, or leave your doors unlocked with no valuables in the car so windows aren’t smashed.

The debate is taking place on the Dunwoody Police Department’s Facebook page. Police posted this cautionary note: “Responding to a series of entering autos in the neighborhood off Laurelwood Rd. All of the vehicles were left unlocked, so yet again, we want to remind you to take, lock, hide.”

Reader Marc Fredo wrote: “Why can’t people just lock their cars, following the police’s common sense recommendations of “take, lock, hide?”

Take your pick,”
