Winston Churchill Society of Georgia Lecture Series:

Churchill’s Leadership Expressed in His Art

The Churchill Society of Georgia is pleased to announce its second lecture of its 2011 lecture series. Ted R. Bromund, author and lecturer on staff at the Heritage Foundation, will speak in Atlanta, GA, on May 14th.Dr. Bromund states "As we all know, Churchill was a painter.  As he said in his charming essay "Painting as a Pastime," he painted for the simplest of reasons: he believed that he, like all public men, needed a hobby, and because he enjoyed it.  As an artist, Churchill never rose to the level of genius.  But “Painting as a Pastime” is not merely a charming whimsy. It is an essay on great leadership, or, more accurately, on how to develop the qualities necessary for great leadership.  Churchill was so deeply imbued with these qualities that they emerged in his art as well as in his life.  As we celebrate the 71st anniversary of Churchill’s accession as Prime Minister, learn how his thoughts on painting reflect his learning on leadership, and his desire to teach others to lead as he did."

The lunch will be served at 11:30 AM, and the lecture starts at 12:15 PM, on Saturday, the 14th of May.
