Getaway Driver Leaves Burglary Accomplice Behind: Police

A Stone Mountain woman and a man from Doraville both face burglary and other charges for a Dunwoody break-in.

A burglary suspect waiting in a getaway SUV was arrested by police after crashing, while her accomplice was left behind to be arrested, according to the Dunwoody Police Department.

Officers arrested Chantel Dione Fontaine, 34, of Stone Mountain and Christopher Rashad Thomas, 23, of Doraville for felony burglary. Fontaine was also charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude and reckless driving, while Thomas was charged with misdemeanor obstruction.

Police received a report of a burglary in progress in the 2700 block of Fontainebleau Drive at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday. The homeowner told the 911 dispatcher that he saw someone inside the house using his home security system.

Officers on the scene saw a silver Chevy Tahoe in front of the residence. When an officer approached the vehicle the driver, Fontaine, fled from the scene in the SUV. Officers pursued the Tahoe until it ran into a fence in the 2300 block of Spalding Drive, where Fontaine was taken into custody.

The second suspect, Thomas, was left behind inside the residence and ran from police, who arrested him following a foot chase.
