Kingsley Elementary School Recognized
The local school has more than 90 percent of its students bike and walk to school. They were named as a "top partner" by the Safe Routes to Schools program, the only school recognized in metro Atlanta.

Kingsley Charter Elementary School has been named by the state's "Safe Routes to School" as a top "partner" as well as the only school recognized in metro Atlanta.
Kingsley was named with five others across the state as a "Partner of the Year." The main reason? More than 90 percent of students routinely walk or bike to school and they are having a positive effect on the schools around them, according to Safe Routes to Schools officials.
The school began the partnership with the transportation department program in 2009.

"Captain Kingsley," a superhero - (Shhh. It's actually a parent with a really good idea) was noted by program officials as an outstanding feature of the school's promotion of walking, biking and being involved in school activities.
