MJCCA's Company J to Put on 'The Producers' Starting Dec. 8

Inaugural season of MJCCA's Company J

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta has a new theater company – and the group is taking on a Broadway hit musical to start things off.

Company J will be putting on a show of the comedy musical The Producers starting on Dec. 8 and running through Dec. 18.

The show's story centers on struggling Broadway producer Max Bialystock and mousy accountant Leo Bloom, who hatch a scheme to get rich by producing Broadway’s biggest flop, according to the MJCCA. The Producers will be directed by Company J’s Producing Artistic Director, Brian Kimmel.

"I am very excited to join Company J for its inaugural season, as its new artistic director," Kimmel said. "We chose Mel Brooks’ outrageous musical satire, The Producers, as the first show in our season because the Tony Award-winning show boasts glittering costumes, clever chorography, and non-stop jokes in dialogue and song. We are confident that this entertaining show will help to put Company J at the forefront of Atlanta’s theater scene.”

The Broadway version of The Producers from 2001 to 2007, winning 12 Tonys.
