Neuman Case: Judge Rules Second Psychologist has to Turn Over Notes
Dr. J. Rand Dorney will have to turn over notes from evaluation of Neuman

The judge in the trial of Hemy Neuman ruled Wednesday that a second psychologist who evaluated Mr. Neuman will have to hand over her notes.
Neuman, the man accused of gunning down Russell ‘Rusty’ Sneiderman outside of a Dunwoody daycare on Nov. 18, 2010, is facing murder charges.

Gregory Adams ruled during a hearing Wednesday that Dr. J. Rand Dorney will have to turn over her notes regarding her evaluation of Neuman in June 2011.
Neuman’s attorney Bob Rubin argued that Dr. Dorney was hired by the prosecution and her work with their client should be protected by the attorney client privilege.

“She agreed to be a consultant for us but not to testify at the trial,” Rubin said.
He said she advised the defense team on what to do in the case, not on the issue of sanity.
Assistant District Attorney Don Geary said he did not want any items that were protected under the privilege, rather just the notes from the evaluation.
Shortly after the hearing, Judge Adams granted Geary’s motion.

Geary said Wednesday that Dr. Peter Thomas had turned over his notes, however, he’d refused to talk to the prosecution.
Jury selection in Neuman’s trial begins Monday. It is expected to last the first few days of next week. Opening statements will begin the following week.
