Peachtree Middle Student Recognized for Ocean Artwork
Carol Zhou received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Georgia Aquarium as part of her award.
Carol Zhou, now a sixth-grade student at Peachtree Charter Middle Schoool, received national recognition for a Coastal America Art Contest, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Her artwork, produced when she was a fifth grader at Dunwoody Elementary School, is a colorful display of underwater life and is reminiscent of a coral reef.
The national recognition earned her second place, the report says. She was one a select few picked. Sixteen students from kindergarten to college were recognized for their artwork - themes to reflect "ocean literacy."
